Making Quality Real Estate Videos with your iPhone and a Gimbal

Video is normally reserved for premium property listings and requires a professional video team to record, but there's no reason you can't put one together for your residential property for sale, rent or airbnb listing. All you need is an iPhone, a G4 Plus Gimbal and a creative eye.

Movement in video gives property listings a sense of life and can engage a prospective customer for much longer, up to a minute as compared to a few second on a photo. Here an example with a holiday house we spent a week in beautiful Noosa on Queensland's coast, all done on the iPhone, edited on the phone with iMove and even uploaded to youtube. No computer necessary.

Quick tips

  • Lighting - The more the better, open up all the blinds and time your shots to film when the lighting is best, bear in mind the shadows cast with harsh direct light.
  • Steady - Don't move too quick and only in one direction without panning back and forth.
  • Short - Viewers get bored easy, don't get tempted to do a half hour clip with every little detail. Keep it below a minute.
